Our hearts go out to all those who have been impacted by COVID-19 and, now more than ever, it is important for us to be united in community and remain in service to each other.
The Junior League of Columbia leaders are approaching this continuously evolving situation with urgency, with focus and with the utmost care in order to provide support for our members and extended community.
Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the most up to date information to protect yourself.
WHAT WE ARE DOING
COVID-19 has dramatically changed The Junior League of Columbia’s service delivery model, but our commitment to the community remains the same. We are taking the following actions to support the Midlands:
Funding Basic Needs – We are shifting funds to support the basic needs of children and families in the Midlands. Non-profits in the Midlands are encouraged to submit an application (applications are now closed) to request Covid-19 response funds.
Staying Home – We are no longer hosting any in-person meetings or events. We are encouraging our members to stay home to protect their families and the community we love.
Supporting Our Partners – We are in regular communication with our outstanding partners to serve vulnerable members of the community. See more ways the JLC has helped thus far. We have also created a new relief fund to support these efforts — read more about our COVID-19 Response Fund.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Stay Informed and Recommendations by Health Officials – Our local officials are working hard to keep everyone safe. Stay informed on closings and local orders.
Support Our Community Partners – See how you can support our community partners.
Donate to the JLC COVID-19 Relief Fund – With the dollars raised through this new fund, we will be able to respond quickly to other community partners as they learn more about how this pandemic is affecting them and how we can be of assistance. This fund will focus on the following areas: food support, healthcare, emergency housing and homelessness, senior care, Richland County School District One, and other child and family services organizations. The JLC will distribute 100% of the funds raised to our community partners. Donate here.
