The ABCs of Healthy Children Committee promotes healthy habits and provides basic necessities to children in our community.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, the Junior League of Columbia hosted the ABCs event at the Walmart on Forest Drive and was able to provide 537 students from local elementary schools with more than $20,000 worth of the ABCs: apples, books, coats, and shoes. Ninety-one League volunteers served as “personal shoppers” for each student and helped make the event a huge success. The joy on the faces of the children shopping for their new coats and shoes was contagious, and we hope the impact of the event will be felt for the remainder of the school year and beyond.
