Kids In The Kitchen
The Association of Junior Leagues International began the Kids in the Kitchen (KITK) initiative in 2006 as a response to the growing childhood obesity epidemic across our country. The goal of the program is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices by educating kids and their parents about the importance of nutrition and fitness. Junior Leagues work in a myriad of ways to achieve this goal, some of which include working with local chefs, community organizations, and nutritionists to provide cooking lessons and demonstrations to families, health fairs, etc.
KITK also has a website, www.kidsinthekitchen.org, featuring healthy recipes, eating and fitness tips, and an interactive nutrition game, hosted by the Cartoon Network (CN), KITK's International Corporate Sponsor. As a sponsor, CN supports local KITK activities and broadcasts PSAs, driving traffic to the site.
