Affinity Group visits Power in Changing Nonprofit

On Saturday, February 18, the Junior League’s Women of Color Affinity Group members got together and volunteered at a local Black-woman-owned nonprofit, Power in Changing.  Fun fact, Power in Changing is the nonprofit of one of our League members, Ayanna White.  Power in Changing provides items to families experiencing financial hardships and diapers is just part of what is provided. Power in Changing also provides baby and toddler clothing, formula, wipes, and feminine hygiene products.

This nonprofit does amazing work throughout the community, and it also partners with local food banks, shelters, daycares, and service centers to get these items to those that need them most.  Affinity Group member, Aisha Jones, felt it was “truly a rewarding experience to assist with something that is going to help so many in our community.”

Power in Changing is largely sustained by donations. As part of their volunteer service that Saturday, they spent their time sorting and bundling diaper packs that would later be distributed to those in need. They also put together care packages with feminine hygiene products.
