The Junior League of Columbia

How We Help

In keeping with our mission, the Junior League of Columbia promotes voluntarism and improves communities by providing a variety of avenues for our members to become involved and make positive impacts throughout the Midlands.

Done in a Day programs take our volunteers across town partnering with other non-profit organizations to make a difference.

Family Connections has our volunteers working to organize and host events for families with special needs children.

Kids in the Kitchen addresses childhood obesity and encourages healthy eating.

Refugee Outreach Committee hosts educational meetings for families recently relocated to South Carolina from Burma and Somalia, presenting basic health and hygiene resources, information, and supplies.

Smart Matters works with elementary schools in Richland District One to help meet basic needs of students, promote literacy, and improve parental involvement.

Community Forums

JLC’s Community Research and Project Development Committee is hosting a series of issue-specific forums during the League year that bring together representatives from non-profits organizations, agencies and other groups working in common areas. Each of these forums is designed as a facilitated conversation where members can learn more about specific issues facing our community and ways they can become involved in addressing them. Click here for links to upcoming forums on our community calendar or contact Michelle Clayton mclayton@turnerpadget.com to learn about upcoming topics and dates for 2010-2011.
