Parenting is one of the most loving and fulfilling jobs available, but also has its share of challenges. Families with special needs children require more support to care for all their children. If a child has special needs, so does the entire family.
Family Connections is a statewide organization founded in 1990 by parents of special needs children to provide programs and services to these families that need more support. According to the State Budget and Control Board, over 50,000 children and youth with special needs live in Richland and Lexington Counties. JLC helps Family Connections in expanding their programs to reach more families in a time when budget cuts are drastically reducing the work of state service providers. Our volunteers plan and host community-based, family-focused programs.
