Meet our JLC Member and End Alzheimer’s: Member Spotlight (Anne Spencer)

Congratulations to our very own JLC member, Anne Spencer Muncy (Anne Spencer), who recently helped raise both money and awareness for Alzheimer’s! To participate in the End Alzheimer’s ride, a person must raise at least $750.00 but some people have raised upwards of $50,000.00 for this cause. Anne completed the 250 mile bike ride this summer, which is typically hosted the second weekend in July. She explained that some people complete the ride virtually throughout the whole month of July. Anne and her husband, James, ride together and have done so for the past four years. They are a small team known as “Debster’s Crew” in honor of Anne’s late mother, who passed from Alzheimer’s. She noted that her interest in the End ALZ ride started while her mother was still alive, and she was able to make it to the first ride. Between the two of them, Anne and James raised $3,261.00 this year. Wow!

1st Day of Ride (Friday)—Simpsonville, SC to Newberry, SC
2nd Day of Ride (Saturday)—Newberry, SC to Orangeburg, SC

Fun Fact: In 2019, I created an Instagram account, bringsalads2cola, to get a salad restaurant to come to Columbia. Verde (who eventually opened in 2020) thought I was the Trenholm Plaza property management trolling them to sign the lease. No, just a girl who wanted Columbia to have a salad restaurant.
