JUNIOR LEAGUE OF COLUMBIA ANNOUNCES NEW FOCUS AREA, COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Now entering a second century of volunteerism, the Junior League of Columbia (JLC) has been reflecting on its rich history of service in the Midlands. After many community conversations and much thoughtful research, the organization is excited to announce a shift in focus area. Beginning with the 2024-2025 league year, JLC will concentrate on promoting healthy relationships for women and children.
“With our newly envisioned focus area of promoting healthy relationships for women and children, we are working to create lasting change in our community,” Junior League of Columbia President Brooke Fonder said.
This new focus area reflects JLC’s commitment to addressing critical needs within the community and empowering women and children to lead fulfilling lives. JLC believes fostering healthy relationships is fundamental to creating a strong and thriving community for generations to come. To support this work, JLC launched a call for applications from organizations looking to collaborate.
“While we will continue to work with various non-profits in the community, the work we will do with our newly identified partners will allow us to expand our reach and bring greater awareness to the needs of our community,” Fonder said.
JLC is thrilled to announce seven new community partners. These organizations will work alongside JLC during a two-year partnership. They are:
- Communities in Schools of South Carolina
- Healthy Learners
- Midlands Fatherhood Coalition
- Palmetto Place Children and Youth Services
- Sistercare
- South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
- The Hive Community Circle
The JLC league year began June 1. Work to bolster the new focus area is already underway.
