A Year of Engagement and Impact: Junior League of Columbia Sustainers’ Activities
The Junior League of Columbia (JLC) Sustainers have had an exciting and fulfilling year, filled with opportunities for connection, learning, and service. From fitness and social gatherings to educational events and community impact initiatives, our members have been actively engaged in meaningful experiences that strengthen both our League and the greater Columbia community.
A Dynamic Start to Fall
We kicked off the fall season with Find the Good Day, a special event dedicated to spreading positivity and celebrating our collective impact. Shortly after, we gathered for our Sustainer Soirée, a festive kickoff event that set the tone for a year of camaraderie and engagement.
Our Sustainers enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of Williams-Brice Stadium, gaining insight into one of Columbia’s most iconic landmarks. Health and wellness were also a focus, as we took part in a Fit and Fabulous session with Jamie Scott Fitness, emphasizing the importance of staying active and prioritizing self-care.
Education and innovation took center stage with our Lunch and Learn on AI, where members explored the growing impact of artificial intelligence in various industries. The holiday season brought both celebration and service: our Sip & Shop event during the Holiday Market provided an opportunity for members to support local vendors while enjoying a festive evening, and our Salvation Army service project allowed us to give back to those in need. We wrapped up the year with a Holiday Cookie Exchange, a warm and welcoming gathering that included our newest members, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness within our Sustainer community.
A Vibrant Spring Lineup
As the new year began, we embraced fun and learning through engaging activities. We kicked things off with a Pickleball 101 course, giving members a chance to learn and enjoy the fast-growing sport. We also gathered for a lively Mahjong Night, where members tested their strategic thinking skills while enjoying great company. Creativity was in full swing at our Bottles & Bubbly Decoupage Workshop, a delightful event that blended art, conversation, and refreshments.
A highlight of the season was the Anne Frank Tour, providing a powerful and educational experience that deepened our understanding of history and resilience.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the final months of the League year, April marks our Volunteer Month, where Sustainers will dedicate time to meaningful service projects throughout the community. We will all host AI part two which will be hands on learning. Finally, we will close out the year in May with our End-of-the-Year Celebration, a time to reflect on our accomplishments, strengthen our connections, and look forward to the future of the Junior League of Columbia.
This year has been a testament to the strength and dedication of our Sustainer members. Through learning, service, and fellowship, we continue to make a lasting impact on our community and each other. We look forward to what’s next and can’t wait to continue our journey together!
