JLC Hosts Friendsgiving at Palmetto Place

The Healthy Relationships for Children (HRC) Committee sponsored the Palmetto Place Annual Friendsgiving, which brought together former residents (aftercare clients), rapid re-housing clients, and resource navigation clients for an evening full of food, fun, and gratitude!

More than 20 JLC members provided a dish for the Friendsgiving feast! HRC provided a gift basket for each client in attendance, which included household items such as laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, etc. Palmetto Place also provided an assortment of gently used clothing and other household items for their clients to take with them.

During the events, those in attendance shared with us what they are most grateful for in their lives. Most of them expressed appreciation and love for the staff of Palmetto Place, and their caseworkers for providing them with the support, tools and skills necessary to thrive and grow as young adults. The evening ended with a few competitive rounds of bingo enjoyed over delicious dessert!

In addition to their laundry gift baskets, we sent the clients home with lots of delectable leftovers! The Palmetto Place caseworkers and the clients expressed to us numerous times how thankful they were for the lovely evening with great food, prizes, games, and gifts provided!

Palmetto Place is a youth transitional shelter for 16-21 year-olds. The residents live at the facility full time and enjoy activities sponsored by various community agencies, including monthly events sponsored by this committee.
